April 2011

Our March meeting brought us lots of fun in the form of door prizes, the fat quarter drawing, Show-and-Tell, and Brag-and-Boast. The first results of the UFO Challenge were shared and center blocks were exchanged for the Round Robin.

Kathleen Lauman introduced a new service project: making duffle bags to be donated to the Children’s Home Society. These will be used for children’s belongings when children are removed from their homes. Currently their possessions are tossed into plastic garbage bags. Finished bags will be 30″ X 34″, with draw-string at the top. Dona Thompson has purchased cord (size 5/16″) for the draw-string and will be providing it at the April meeting. Instructions for making the bags have already been emailed.

Our guest speaker for the evening was Cindy Mahedy, a massage therapist from Everest School of Massage. She shared the benefits & techniques of self-massage, and had us try some massage exercises.

Upcoming events:

May 14 – Nancy McGuire will teach “Little Quilt” projects. Potluck lunch.

October 15 – Wool ornaments presented by Nancy Rasmussen, Patti Krause and Netta Groat; and a fabric ball ornament by Connie Peasley. Potluck lunch.

March 2011

February’s meeting brought us the unveiling of the 2010 Mystery Quilts. Several people completed their tops. Three people finished their blocks on schedule with no $ penalties: Connie, Alana and Mary. Good job everyone, they all look beautiful!

Our program for the evening was a visit from Liz Suchinda, Cathy Sholes-Tropple and Eileen Longust of Liz Suchinda Yoga. They talked about Yoga, showed us a little of what it’s about and invited us to a session at their studio. Our final guest was Joan Cameron, Belief & Goal Mastery Coach and International PSYCH-K Instructor. She demonstrated an interesting self-empowerment exercise with the help of our own Patti Chartrand. You can find more information at her website http://yourbeliefsmatter.com/ .
